How long should a cover letter be?

The cover letter is the new flash in the pan of recruiters. In most cases, when someone is applying for a job, he or she is in the dilemma that whether he/she should write a cover letter or not. Well, yes you should definitely write a cover letter when you apply for a job. A good cover letter will empower your resume and helps to stand out of the crowd. He once said, “Pretend that the person you’re writing to already loves and respects you. Pretend that the person you’re writing to already believes that you’re worthy and valuable. 4.Be real, be honest: It doesn’t mean you have to become philosophical for attaining the job. You should mean what you are telling about yourself.  Use professional language, words and style in the cover letter. 

 

5.Use KISS method: The kiss method is ‘Keep It short & simple. A good cover letter should not include long sentences or essay-like impression. The managers have less attention span, which means you have less time to introduce yourself. Use keywords like communicating, built, boosted, handled, mastered etc.

 

6.Edit: The professionals hold a sharp eye to catch the mistakes in the cover letter instantly; a wrong English cover letter can create a casual impression amongst recruiters. Write the correct name of the company and recruiter. There are various tools available online to check typos and grammatical error. Before sending the cover letter, read it thoroughly and loud.


The cover letter should conclude with a call to action and you are someone who can take the heat. It should not appear as vague or boring.  A cover letter becomes the proof that you are really excited about joining the organization. Be memorable. Be active. Be colourful. Be generous.
